Which hearing aid is right for me?
Hearing aids come in a wide range of products and
prices and the level selected depends on several
factors:
- Your hearing loss. The level of hearing
impairment and specific frequencies where
impairment exists can determine which products
are appropriate. Also, higher power aids for
more severe losses usually cost more than
their lower power counterparts.
- Your lifestyle and hearing objectives. Generally, less expensive models are appropriate
for less active individuals that seek hearing
improvement in one primary listening situation
(e.g. around the house). More expensive models
with multiple memories and advanced features
are appropriate for individuals that require
hearing improvement in varied listening situations
such as work, social situations, home and
on the telephone.
- One aid or two? Most people with
hearing loss have impairment in both ears.
Those with impairment in both ears need two
hearing aids to achieve the best possible
performance. For those needing two aids for
best performance, Hometown Hearing heavily
discounts the price of the 2nd aid. Advanced features
such as directional microphones, feedback
management, noise reduction and automated
program changes increase the cost of hearing
aids.
- Cosmetic preferences. Typically,
the smaller and more discreet sizes cost more
than their larger counterparts. At Hometown
Hearing, we charge a relatively low premium
for the smaller sizes and have priced all
of our smaller premium products at the same
price as their larger full-shell and behind-the-ear
counterparts.
- Your budget. As with most major purchases,
you need to prioritize the features and performance
that are most important to you and make a
selection that provides a balance of features
and affordability. At Hometown Hearing, our
wider selection of products and our low prices
enables our professionals to make recommendations
that provide more features at better prices
than the competition.
PAYMENT AND FINANCING OPTIONS
We recognize that better hearing and hearing aids represent a significant investment. In order to make the better hearing that you need as accessible as possible, we provide several payment options.
Insurance
We’re contracted with most insurance plans in the KC and St. Louis areas so that if your insurance pays for some or all of your hearing aids, then you only have to pay the remaining balance and we’ll file and collect the benefit amount from your insurance company. In addition, our contracts with many insurance companies provide you special discounted pricing not regularly available.
Credit Cards
We accept Mastercard, Visa and Discover for your payment convenience.
CareCredit Patient Financing
CareCredit enables you to finance all or a portion of the cost of hearing aids and make low monthly payments. Similar to a credit card, you can make only a small minimum payment or you can make larger payments and pay the balance off in a few short months. With the everyday CareCredit financing program, the interest rate depends on your credit score.
From time to time, we run special financing promotional offers with no payments and/or no interest for a period of time following the purchase. Watch our Special Offers for current pricing and financing specials.
Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation
This program helps Missouri residents that require hearing aids to achieve or maintain employment in Missouri. The program includes specific hearing loss criteria and income and assets must be below program guidelines. Specific financial criteria depend on the number of persons in your household and other factors. Schedule an appointment with Hometown Hearing if you’d like to pursue assistance through Missouri’s Vocational Rehabilitation program.
Other Need-Based Assistance
We work with the Lions Club, the Starkey Foundation and directly subsidize hearing aids for those with very limited financial resources and income. If you have savings of less than $5,000 and gross annual income of less than $15,000 you may be eligible for assistance. Income thresholds may be higher depending on household income and the number of people in your household.
